Jetstar is excited to announce a newly created opportunity as Manager Base Distribution & Logistics. In this dynamic role, you'll oversee all aspects of warehousing and distribution services for our Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). You will also be working closely with the Engineering Supply Chain and Commercial teams. Your responsibilities will encompass managing warehousing and distribution, while also facilitating communication with stakeholders across CAMO, Qantas Group, and JBA's as needed. As a key figure, you'll hold the crucial role of "Responsible Manager" under CASR Part 145, ensuring compliance with CASA regulations for stores, parts distribution and freight management. Our Central Distribution Centre is JQ’s main Warehouse and 24/7 Operation, receiving/distributing parts & consumables to the engineering teams across all locations across the JQ/JBA network.

Reporting directly to the Manager Supply & Logistics, you'll be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence in employee performance. Your leadership will be pivotal in cultivating a high-performing team and a workforce that is fully engaged and motivated.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Implement new business process and practices to ensure the team is adopting best practice.
  • Build partnerships with internal & external stakeholders to ensure all performance metrics are achieved.
  • Work closely with the Accountable Senior Manager of the AMO and Senior Manager of Supply Chain & Commercial to identify and actively manage any safety related issues across the AMO.
  • Ensure Jetstar's adherence to the Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE) approved by CASA concerning the management of stores, warehousing, and the distribution of parts.
  • Identify, priorities, and manage initiatives/projects to improve performance and meet regulatory accountabilities.
  • Negotiate on behalf of the company to achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • Implement / drive a continuous improvement philosophy throughout the department.
  • Creation of policies to support processes or systems and ensure future business stability and process integrity.
  • Provide a technical/operational advisory service to key stakeholders.
  • Develop a performance management culture within the department including the creation of detailed development plans to ensure continual growth in business skills, experience, and qualifications.

 

We are on the hunt for someone who has experience, qualifications and attributes including:

  • Management experience as a senior leader or people manager with significant people management responsibility preferred.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline preferred and/or;
  • Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Professional Engineering or Trade qualification
  • Extensive experience in aviation including experience in training, stores, procurement, or related functions.
  • Highly developed people leadership skills including performance management, coaching, mentoring and development
  • Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in process improvement (i.e. Lean and Six Sigma)
  • Experience managing and communicating effectively with third party suppliers.
  • Detailed understanding of project management tools / techniques and their application
  • Sound knowledge of business management, business analysis and review techniques
